“Doctor Who” casts Jonah Hauer-King and Nicola Coughlan

Some casting news from the “Into the Whoniverse” panel on Friday at San Diego Comic-Con. It was announced that The little mermaid Star Jonah Hauer-King will appear in the next season of Doctor Who, You play a character who will be part of Ruby Sunday's story.

Additionally, BridgertonNicola Coughlan announced that she has joined the cast of “The Doctor Who Christmas special. She will play Joy, “a determined woman whose life changes forever when she meets the Doctor.” You can see her announcement, which includes a first look at the special, below.

Couglan currently plays Penelope Featherington in Netflix’s BridgertonHer other roles include the lead role of Claire Devlin in the Channel 4/Netflix sitcom, Derry girl. She also starred in the Channel 4 and Tubi original comedy series Great atmosphere alongside Lydia West and in the feature film comedy Grab them! with Aimee Lou Wood, Nick Frost and Lolly Adefope. She is currently shooting the independent film The magical faraway tree alongside Andrew Garfield and Claire Foy.

Hauer-King was most recently seen on the big screen alongside Halle Bailey in “The Last Man” (2023). The little mermaidHe recently completed filming on the challenging romantic comedy The threesome by Star Thrower Entertainment (King Richard), Filmopoly and Jupiter Peak.

As we previously reported, Doctor Who Spinoff was announced during the panel. The BBC and Disney+ have ordered The war between land and seaa five-part spinoff series with Russell Tovey and Gugu Mbatha-Raw alongside existing Doctor Who with Jemma Redgrave and Alexander Devrien.
