“My husband is not a jealous man”

Salma Hayek Pinault got along with her Magic Mike Stripper co-stars.

The actress plays Maxandra Mendoza in Magic Mike's Last Dancea rich society lady in the middle of a divorce who wants to put on a liberating stage show (with striptease, of course) in a stuffy London theater. After a chance meeting in Miami, Maxandra enlists the expertise of Channing Tatum's “Magic” Mike Lane, who puts together a crew of innovative dancers to put on the hot spectacle.

Hayek Pinault, 56, tells PEOPLE that she became friends with her costars who play the various strippers — and over time, a friendship also developed with her husband, French businessman François-Henri Pinault.

“My husband is not a jealous man,” she says. “I always called him [from set] and say, “Oh my God, I feel so bad,” because I had this preconception about how the guys would be strippers. But they're not. They're lovely. They're such great guys. And [my husband] says, 'Oh God, you're going to be best friends with the strippers, aren't you?' And I said, 'Yes!'”

“And then he came to the set a few times. There was one in particular who asked him for business advice. He spoke French and knew everything about François. He said, 'I'm a big fan.' He was more reacting to François than to me!”

Hayek Pinault adds: “At the end of the film, they all came to our house. They all hung out with me. Then François said, 'You're right, they are charming, they are lovely.'”

Hayek Pinault also says that working with her co-star Tatum, 42, was a pleasure: She “experienced that he was a true gentleman.”

“He's like a southern gentleman and that's important to him. Because he's so cool and silly and funny. He can be that. Or he can be very smart and intense and focused,” says Hayek Pinault. “He's always nice. … And I told him, 'Your mother raised you well.' I think that usually, most of the time, comes from the mother. I think that's true.”

She adds: “He is very respectful and very considerate.”

The actress and Pinault, 60, began dating in 2006 and had their daughter Valentina, now 15, the following year. They married in Paris in 2009 and nine years later, Pinault surprised the Oscar nominee with a surprise renewal of their vows in Bora Bora.

Hayek Pinault tells PEOPLE that she makes it “hugely important” to celebrate Valentine’s Day every year.

“I married my husband for the first time on Valentine's Day – we were married four times and never divorced. My daughter's name is Valentina,” she says, adding: “All over the world, it's the day of love. But at least in Mexico, it's also the day of friendship. So, boy, am I busy on Valentine's Day.”

Magic Mike's Last Dance will be in cinemas on February 10th
