Taylor Swift announces imminent release of re-recording of “Love Story” and upcoming album “Fearless”

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Taylor Swift presents her fans with the “Love Story” that everyone has been waiting for.

On Thursday morning, the 31-year-old superstar thrilled Swifties with the announcement that the re-recording of her career-changing song “Love Story” would be released at midnight.

And as if that wasn’t enough, Swift also revealed that she has been working hard to Fearless — with the new name Fearless (Taylor's Version)). The new album will also contain 26 songs, including six new songs “from the archive”.

I am so happy to announce that tonight at midnight I will be releasing my version of my song “Love Story,” which was originally on my album Fearless. I have now re-recorded all Fearlesswhich will be released soon.”

She continued: “My version of Fearless will contain 26 songs because I decided to add songs from the archive that almost made it into the original Fearless album, but I've re-recorded them now so everyone can hear not only the songs that made it onto the album, but also the songs that almost made it: the bigger picture.”

Following the GMA Announcement, Swift shared the news with her fans on Instagram.

“I am pleased to announce that my new version of Fearless (Taylor's Version) is ready and will be with you soon,” she wrote under a photo of the new album cover. “It contains 26 songs, including 6 previously unreleased songs from the archive. Love Story (Taylor's Version) is out tonight.”

In a second photo from the same Instagram post, Swift shared an emotional message explaining what it means to be able to re-record her music and the importance of her Fearless Album.

The message, written entirely in lowercase, also included some capital letters that appeared to spell out “APRIL NINTH” – possibly the date the singer's newly recorded album is set to be released. The April date also corresponds to 13, Swift's favorite number.

Swift's second studio album – which stayed at No. 1 for 11 weeks and is one of the best-selling albums of the 21st century – won Album of the Year at the 2009 Grammys, making her the youngest artist ever to win the award at the time.

The superstar first gave a taste of her new version of “Love Story” in her longtime boyfriend Ryan Reynolds’ Match commercial in December.

“Okay, so while my new footage is NOT ready, my friend @VancityReynolds asked me if he could use a clip of it for a hilarious commercial he wrote, so… here's a little taster [sic] from Love Story! I'm working hard to get the music to you guys soon!!,” she wrote on Twitter at the time.

Last November, Swift's fans rejoiced on social media as the singer was now legally free to work on new versions of her first five albums, which Scooter Braun took ownership of following a $300 million deal with Big Machine Label Group.

(Swift's masters changed hands again when Braun sold the master rights to her first six albums for over $300 million late last year.)

After news of the sale broke in July 2019, Swift attacked Braun and Big Machine co-owner Scott Borchetta, accusing the music manager of “manipulative bullying” in an impassioned letter to her fans.

In August 2019, Swift confirmed that she planned to re-record her first five albums – Taylor Swift, Fearless, Speak Now, RedAnd 1989 — as soon as she was legally permitted to do so.

“This is something I'm really looking forward to because my contract says I can re-record albums one through five starting in November 2020. I'm very excited about it,” she said previously. told GMA's Robin Roberts.

“I think artists have the right to own their work,” added Swift, who is now signed to Republic Records. “That's just something I feel very strongly about.”
