Ekwunife, others mourn Ifeanyi Ubah

The sudden and shocking death of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, who represented Anambra South Senatorial District, has sent waves of grief across the country.

Senator Uche Ekwunife, Director General of the South East Governors' Forum, issued a heartfelt press release at the weekend lamenting the loss.

Senator Ekwunife described the news as a “rude shock” and devastating, adding that she was finding it difficult to accept the reality.

She praised Senator Ubah as an astute politician with deep compassion for humanity and a true representative of the masses.

The press release also expressed condolences to Senator Ubah's wife, Mrs. Uche Ubah, and their children and urged them to find strength during this difficult time. Senator Ekwunife reminded them that they are not alone in their grief.

Senator Ekwunife’s statement came as a comfort to the Nnewi community, Anambra South Senatorial District, Anambra State, the Nigerian Senate and the entire Igbo nation.

In his condolence message, Mr Valentine Ozigbo said it was with deep sadness and dismay that he received the news of the death of his dear brother, Senator Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah.
.
He said Senator Ubah, who came from humble beginnings, was an example of how, through unwavering dedication, one could overcome barriers and make a significant impact on one's community, state and country.

Ozigbo said Ubah began his career in the Nigerian business world as a passionate promoter and Managing Director of Capital Oil & Gas Industries Limited.

He said Senator Ubah's ambitions had served as an inspiration to many young Nigerians and his success had shown that with hard work and conviction, one can achieve great things in any field.

He said his move into politics was marked by the same visionary spirit that led him to serve two terms as a senator, and his contributions extended beyond politics to sports and the media, where he had a notable impact.

According to him, Senator Ubah embodied the ‘Think Home’ mentality, a hallmark of the Igbo people, particularly of Anambra, noting that his commitment to the service and welfare of his community and the society at large will be greatly missed.

“I wish to express my heartfelt condolences to his wife, Mrs. Uchenna Ubah, their children, friends, colleagues, Nnewi community, Anambra South Senatorial District, the State and the Nigerian Senate.”

May the soul of Senator Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah rest in peace,” he prayed.

Also, the Founder of Olivia University in Burundi and Pro-Chancellor of Benue State University, Markurdi, Sir Paul Chukwuma, expressed deep sadness over the death of Senator Ubah and commended him for his influential life and significant contributions to the Igbo community and Nigeria.

Chukwuma, through his spokesperson, Chukwuemeka, highlighted Obi Ubah’s commitment and philanthropy as well as the void his death leaves in his Senatorial district and beyond.

He conveyed his condolences to Ubah's family and announced a 30-day suspension of political activities in Anambra State as a mark of respect and collective mourning.

“Ifeanyi Ubah was a brother and political ally whose energy was infectious and he dedicated it fully to what he believed in. He was a philanthropist who cared for and loved his people.

“His death came as a shock and has left a huge vacuum in his Senatorial district, Ndi Anambra, Ndi Igbo and the whole of Nigeria.

We will miss him. In the relatively short time he spent on earth, he lived with purpose and like a man on a mission.”

“On behalf of my family and myself, I wish to express my condolences to the Ubah family, Nnewi, his wife and children. I pray that God consoles them and gives them the strength they need to carry on and that Sen. Ifeanyi Ubah lives on in the memory of many whose lives he touched.”

“In his honour, I have instructed my team to put all political activities in Anambra State on hold for the next 30 days as we as a political family collectively mourn this tremendous loss,” he said.
