Kristin Chenoweth reveals what her adopted brother said to her one Christmas: “I will never forget that!”

Kristin Chenoweth will “never forget” what her adopted brother told her one Christmas as a child.

The 55-year-old Broadway star was adopted by Junie and Jerry Chenoweth when she was just five days old. She recalled her brother Mark telling her in her pre-teen years that he made sure no one could take her away from the family.

She told Parade magazine: “My brother, I was adopted and he was very protective of that. And at Christmas he said – he's five years older than me – I just want you to know, I've checked everything, I've done my due diligence and no one can ever take you away. And that was the best gift.”

“From a person, you know, 16, who told me it was very, very, very sweet. I'll never forget it.”

Meanwhile, the Schmigadoon! star – best known for his role as Glinda in the hit musical Wicked when it premiered in 2003 – tied the knot with 41-year-old Josh Bryant earlier this year and revealed that they will spend their first Christmas as husband and wife with their family in Oklahoma, even though she usually performs around the holiday season.

She said, “You know, we're both entertainers and the holidays are usually something we work, but this year we're spending it with our families. So in Arkansas for Thanksgiving and in Oklahoma for Christmas. And that's different for us because we're always working. And I'm glad about that because right now – and I think a lot of the world feels this way – we want to be with those we love the most and who love us.”
