Go over upside down And completely black Christmas trees! This year's evergreen trend is a little more subtle – and easier to care for.

In recent years Succulents are becoming increasingly popular in home decoration. Now the adorable – and hearty – little plants can help add a unique and festive Christmas spirit to your home, as succulent Christmas trees.

Standing about a foot tall, these eye-catching holiday creations are making waves on social media as people rave about their unexpected Christmas spirit.

“I'm not a big Christmas person, but I definitely do this!” Twitter users said of the trees, while another added“Today I learned about lush Christmas trees and… I think I like it?”

You can also save yourself the hassle of caring for a classic conifer if you choose succulent Christmas trees. The small plants only need to be sprayed with water every 10 to 14 days to keep them alive. After Christmas, they can be repotted as individual plants and decorate your home for months.

One option is a 13-inch alpine succulent tree adorned with nearly “50 haworthias and a dozen colorful succulents, including echeverias, graptoverias, sedums and more,” according to the seller’s order listing.

The same vendor's 13-inch, made-to-order Aurora succulent tree is adorned with nearly 25 echeverias.

Prices for these small trees vary, but are often over $100. Terracotta Corner's Alpine and Aurora trees sell for around $130 to $135. RileysOasis' more traditional-looking succulent Christmas tree, made from “over 100 succulent cuttings,” costs $184.

Buyers of the trees have been thrilled with their purchases so far. “It was a gift for my mom. She loves it. Best Christmas present ever!!!” wrote one shopper.
