Taylor Swift | Taylor Swift 'shocked' by attack in Southport

Taylor Swift is “in complete shock” following the knife attack in Great Britain on Monday (29.07.24).

The 34-year-old singer expressed her condolences on social media after two children died and nine were seriously injured in a knife attack at a Taylor dance class in Southport, northwest England.

In a message posted on her Instagram story, Taylor said: “The horror of yesterday's attack in Southport is still running through my mind and I am in complete shock… The loss of life and innocence and the horrific trauma inflicted on all who were there, the families and the first responders.”

“They were just little kids at the dance class. I don't know how I can ever express my sympathy to these families. (sic)”

A 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.

Meanwhile, a group of Taylor's fans have started a fundraiser for the victims and their families.

The group has already raised more than £28,000 through a JustGiving page, more than doubling its original target of £13,000.

Cristina Jones, from Taylor Swift's UK-EU Facebook group, told the BBC: “It breaks our hearts to think that these parents are going through hell and that they are under financial stress because of it.”

“There's no way we can make it better. But relieving some stress was definitely a priority for us.”

The group said it is working with Alder Hey Children's Hospital in Liverpool to raise money for the families.

In addition, they are trying to “raise funeral funds for the two young Swifties who tragically passed away.”
