Parkmore Community Market celebrates Christmas in July

Christmas came early to the Parkmore township this year when the Sandton Sports Club and Milk Bar hosted a community market on 28 July under the theme ‘Christmas in July’.

Organized by Treasured Times Markets and hosted by brand representative Ginny Osborne, the event was more than just an excuse for everyone to come together, celebrate, have fun and shop for great products.

“The concept is to bring decorations and festive fun into the middle of the year. People need that,” Osborne explained. “It's an option for people who can plan to buy their Christmas presents now and then not have to spend money or time on it at the end of the year.”

Osborne also explained what she looks for in marketers when developing community marketplaces.

“I try to build the market with new suppliers each time so that our regular customers don't expect to find the same suppliers every time. I'm constantly looking for product variations to avoid duplication and provide the most value to everyone,” Osborne said. “We find suppliers through word of mouth.”

“They contact me, or I contact them if I find them, to see if we can work together,” Osborne concluded. “We often have the timing to allow marketers to come and try out our market. They very often come back for another visit, which is ideal.”

It's a shame that Santa Claus is on holiday in July. He will be sad to have missed this great event.
