Christkindlmarkt will not return to any of its Chicago locations this season – NBC Chicago

Christmas is always a magical time of year in Chicago. And it all starts with the annual Christmas markets, where vendors sell seasonal foods, Christmas decorations and mulled wine.

In the Chicago area, three locations of the traditional German Christmas market are usually set up: one downtown, one in Wrigleyville and one in Aurora.

This year there will be no market in the usual program.

Due to the National Hockey League's Winter Classic, Wrigleyville will not host a market for the 2024 season.

In a statement on the Christkindl website, the Winter Classic and “additional programs” are cited as reasons why the market will not take place.

“The organizers regret any inconvenience and thank the community for their understanding. They look forward to returning to Lakeview in the years to come,” the statement said.

Although the Gallagher Way location in Wrigleyville will not open, the other two locations will still be running at full speed.

The Daley Plaza and Aurora markets will be open from November 22nd to December 24th.

The Daley Plaza Market is located at 50 W. Washington St. in Chicago. The location is celebrating its 28th anniversary.

The Aurora Market, now in its third year, is located in the suburb at 360 N. Broadway.
