This new heart-shaped pasta from Barilla is perfect for Valentine's Day

Barilla knows that one of the best ways to the heart is through the stomach, and just in time for Valentine's Day, the company has developed a new pasta shape that appeals to those who speak a culinary language of love.

The pasta maker, popular with food service professionals and home cooks alike – including beloved Italian-American recipe developer and content creator Dan “Grossy” Pelosi – is offering the limited edition “Love Pasta” as part of a new giveaway.

The dried, heart-shaped tubes made of durum wheat flour and semolina are inspired by one of Barilla's 35 most famous pasta cuts: Mezzi Rigatoni, which has small grooves to help the sauce adhere better.

For carb lovers who want to win a 12-ounce package of the new pasta, Barilla has asked its fans to fill out an entry form between January 18 and February 1 and share how Barilla brings them closer to their loved ones.

On February 1st, several randomly selected winners will be chosen to receive the Barilla Love Pasta Set and one lucky fan will win an Italian getaway with a loved one.

The pasta set includes a box of the new shape, two recipes, pasta-themed Valentine's Day cards, heart-shaped plates and measuring spoons with sweet sayings engraved on the handles, including “A bunch of love.”

“Every pasta shape has a story. For us, reimagining our iconic Blue Box pasta line with this adorable shape is another way for pasta lovers to celebrate their love for each other and their love of pasta,” said Melissa Tendick, vice president of marketing at Barilla, in a statement. “There's no better way to show your affection than through cooking, and we look forward to seeing our fans create authentic, delicious Italian dishes at home this Valentine's Day.”

The nine-day, eight-night Italian trip includes economy class flights to Florence, where guests will spend four nights in a hotel, and then a train ride to Parma, home of Barilla's headquarters. They will also receive $1,000 in spending money.
