Founded in 1984 by the French Ministry of Culturethe Journées du Patrimoine (Heritage Days) have become an unmissable event for history and heritage lovers. Each year, the event offers the general public the opportunity to discover, free of charge, monuments, historical sites and institutions that are normally closed or charge an entrance fee. In Paris and throughout France, these days are an opportunity to delve into the history of the country through Guided tours,Exhibitions AndEventsThey take place every year on third weekend in Septemberand offers a great opportunity to (re)discover the cultural treasures of France.

For theEdition 2024Many iconic sites in Paris and the Île-de-France region will open their doors. These include the Pantheon, the Sainte-Chapelle and the Opéra Garnier in Paris. In the Île-de-France region, visitors can explore the Palace of Versailles, the Basilica of Saint-Denis and the Domaine de Rambouillet. The programme also includes themed tours, children's workshops and conferences, so there is something for everyone.

Located on the edge of the Rambouillet forest, the castle has been the residence of numerous French rulers and presidents. With its formal gardens, the property was designed in the style of an English park, punctuated by ponds, with beautiful garden nuggets such as the Laiterie de la Reine and the Shell foam.

Once a princely, royal, imperial and later presidential residence, the Château de Rambouillet and its grounds are rich in history and offer some remarkable nooks and crannies, including the Queen's Dairy, the Chaumière aux coquillages and the Bergerie nationale, which are not to be missed.
