Labour Party leader Ozigbo supports widows in Anambra State – Voice of Nigeria

Philanthropist and Anambra State Labour Party (LP) leader Valentine Ozigbo, who urged Nigerians to remain patient and peaceful despite economic challenges, has addressed no fewer than 400 widows and other vulnerable people as he celebrated his 54th birthday.

Valentine Ozigbo, the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2021 governorship election in the state, distributed 50kg bags of rice, cash and other food items to the beneficiaries, saying that the event was aimed at making a positive impact on the lives of others.

According to Ozigbo, the beneficiaries from 21 local government areas were invited to celebrate with him while praying for the well-being of Anambra and Nigeria in general, given the devastating effects of the economic crisis affecting everyone in the country.

He stressed that the purpose of celebrating his 54th birthday was to thank God for sustaining his life and family over the years, and not for the sake of a political campaign. He expressed his joy and privilege to be among the widows who had come to celebrate with him.

The Chairman of VCO Foundation, Valentine Chineto Ozigbo, Mr. Izuchukwu Oraelosi, also spoke and described the birthday programme as one of the ways Ozigbo aims to help the poorest in society.

VCO was established 25 years ago. The founder Ozigbo uses his annual birthday event to reach out to the people in many ways. The foundation has been supporting the masses, especially the needy citizens and other vulnerable people. We also empower youth, women and others in choosing skills, enterprises and career opportunities and award scholarships to deserving citizens.”, he explained.

Incredible personality

In their response shortly after receiving the items, the widows described Ozigbo as a leader with an incredible personality in Nigeria.

The widows appreciated the gesture and assured the Labour Party leader of their full support in the upcoming gubernatorial elections in the state in 2025.

They, however, appealed to well-meaning Nigerians to emulate Ozigbo’s selfless and humanitarian life.

Labour Party National Chairman, Mr Emmanuel Eneh, said: “What VCO has done today is humility personified. We are very grateful to him for always remembering and supporting the widows in the society.”

Earlier, the celebrant, Rev. Jonas Unegbu of the Catholic Diocese of Awka, preached love and sacrifice at the thanksgiving mass at Cana House Awka.
