Taylor Swift | Taylor Swift has “presidential-level security” ahead of London shows

Taylor Swift's security presence has reportedly been increased to “presidential levels” ahead of her shows in London.

The singer will perform five nights at Wembley Stadium in the British capital from August 15 to 20, marking her first return to the stage since Austrian police foiled an attack on her concerts at Vienna's Ernst Happel Stadium. A new report suggests security for her has been tightened to a level normally reserved for US presidents.

A source told The Sun newspaper that the singer is now under “presidential level” security. An insider added: “Taylor's safety and that of those around her has always been paramount, but now it is even more so.”

“She and her dancers were told to 'go into hiding for their own safety' given the threat from Vienna. That's why nothing was said about the cancelled shows other than the promoter's statement.”

There will be increased security at the Wembley shows. The newspaper reported that a trial run of the new system took place at the stadium's Charity Shield football match on Saturday (10.08.24). Fans without tickets were also asked not to gather outside the venue to listen to the concert.

Taylor's concerts in Vienna were cancelled after the threat was announced, and a statement from London's Metropolitan Police assured fans that there was no indication that the Wembley shows could be targeted.

The statement, seen by PEOPLE, said: “There is no indication that the matters being investigated by the Austrian authorities will have any impact on future events here in London.”

Officials said they will work closely with security teams and “other partners” to ensure appropriate safety measures are in place for the highly anticipated performances. Police added: “As always, we will carefully review any new information.”
