Data shows intersections with most violent crimes in Nashville in summer 2024

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – Three intersections in Nashville have seen the most calls to Metro Nashville Police over the past 12 weeks, not because of accidents, but because of violent crime in the area.

Linda Fuqua rides the bus four times a week and has witnessed several struggles at the WeGo station.

“I thought, oh man, that shouldn’t have happened,” Linda Fuqua said.

Not surprisingly, the intersection next door had the most violent crimes between May 12 and August 3, according to MNPD. Tied with 16 incidents are the intersections of 24th Ave N and Parman Place, which are closest to Tristar Centennial Medical Center.

In third place with 15 incidents are Third Ave N and Broadway. In fourth place with 14 incidents are W Trinity Lane and Brick Church Pike.

Tyrone Burch says he tries to avoid the downtown area as much as possible because of the violence.

“Downtown should not be a meeting place, but a place we commute to to get to our destination. And the more people hanging out there, the more likely something is to happen,” Burch said.

He says he wants to offer more mental health services in the area.

“If we don't take action and try to fix the problem, it will just continue to grow instead of just talking about the problem,” Burch said.

While these intersections have seen the most accidents recently, that can change from month to month, so Fuqua says she's cautious everywhere.

“You don't know where they're going to be peeking and acting like idiots. You never know. All I'm saying is, pay attention and mind your business,” Fuqua said.

Statistics are updated weekly. As of August 13, all four intersections were still among the county's top five traffic hubs. The data published by the MNPD can be found here.
