Caddo teacher arrested for inappropriate contact with student | Crime

SHREVEPORT, Louisiana – The manhunt for a Caddo Parish Schools teacher who was wanted for alleged inappropriate behavior with a student has ended with his arrest.

Shreveport police notified the public Tuesday morning of their search for Dayton Corbett, 32. He was admitted to the Caddo Correctional Center shortly after 5:30 p.m.

There is an arrest warrant against him for prohibited sexual contact between a teacher and a student.

An investigation was launched after Shreveport Police received a tip about Corbett's alleged misconduct.

Authorities said one victim has been identified so far. They also reported that Corbett taught and coached at Northwood and Byrd high schools.

According to Corbett's LinkedIn profile, he worked for the Caddo Parish School District for four years. Police also confirmed that Corbett was employed at several schools in the district.

The school board said Corbett has since been placed on leave. The district is cooperating with the investigation, a spokeswoman said.

“Sex crimes investigators have made multiple attempts to obtain a statement from him and to contact him, but so far they have been unsuccessful,” Cpl. Chris Bordelon said Tuesday morning.
