Looking at the test car, anyone would immediately guess that it is the Tata Harrier. However, it is difficult to tell whether it is the regular or the EV version. Well, this time, the car spotter cleverly managed to photograph the underbody of the test model. And this image has clearly shown the presence of electric motors on the rear axle, confirming that it is the Harrier EV. The SUV will be based on the Acti.ev platform that debuted with the Punch EV. And what about the off-road enthusiasts?

Now we know that Tata has claimed that the Harrier EV will be offered with an optional all-wheel drive. And guess what? The presence of the electric motors on the rear axle confirms that the Tata SUV will finally be a capable off-road vehicle. The Harrier EV will be offered with two electric motors – one on the front and one on the rear axle. So, it will be interesting to see how the Harrier fares on rough terrain. However, it would have been interesting if Tata had offered all-wheel drive or 4×4 hardware on the diesel version. After all, it is based on the Omega architecture, which contains the DNA of the Land Rover D8 platform!

What else?

Other than that, the Harrier EV looks identical to the facelift version. It will carry over most of the elements of the facelift but will have some design features that will set it apart from the competition. The grille and alloy wheels are expected to be different. Also, the attached LED daytime running lights will have the feature of displaying the battery level in percentage. Otherwise, it will continue to look as sleek as it does now.

On the interior, the layout is expected to be identical but Tata could offer a brighter colour scheme for the EV. We have seen this on the Nexon ICE and Nexon EV and the same is expected on the Harrier EV as well. What about the features list? So, the Harrier EV is likely to get all the goodies from the Harrier facelift, plus some EV-specific features. Expect features like V2V and V2L charging systems. Also, since the Harrier EV is an AWD variant, it could get an off-road mode selector.
