Police: Hayward man arrested in connection with series of burglaries in San Ramon

Hayward police announced an arrest in connection with a series of burglaries in the East Bay over the past year, including the theft of luxury cars from dealerships in Hayward and the robbed of a locksmith's delivery truck in San Ramon.

At the center of the months-long investigation was 23-year-old Nova Moore, who was identified as the leader of the operation and was allegedly responsible for organizing and carrying out the break-ins. Police confirmed publicly for the first time on Monday that the Hayward man had been arrested on July 11.

According to Hayward police Officer Cassondra Fovel, investigators have linked Moore to at least 10 burglaries in Hayward between August and November 2023, as well as at least one in Union City and one in San Ramon.

Two of the crimes in Hayward involved the theft of high-value vehicles from local car dealerships. Fovel said the thorough investigation was critical to connecting the dots and determining the extent of the operation.

“Officers, detectives and our forensics team worked together to collect and process evidence, execute and execute search warrants and carefully document each incident,” Fovel said in a news release Monday. “These efforts were critical in connecting these incidents and ultimately identifying and arresting Moore, linking him to these burglaries and recovering the stolen luxury vehicles.”

San Ramon police confirmed this week that Moore was identified as the prime suspect among four people involved in a burglary outside AM/PM Locksmith on Crow Canyon Road on November 21, 2023.

“The suspect(s) broke into a pickup truck and stole several tools and locks,” Lt. Leysy Pelayo told DanvilleSanRamon on Tuesday.

“During the investigation, officers identified a suspicious vehicle that was connected to a reported car theft out of Hayward,” Pelayo said. “In addition, four individuals were identified as references to the burglary. With the help of Hayward Police Department investigators, one of those individuals was identified as Nova Moore.”

Fovel described the lengthy investigation as a “team effort and an example of the resources the Hayward Police Department will use to protect our community. We are grateful to the community for their patience and support while these cases were investigated.”

Anyone with information about Moore or any of the cases can contact Hayward Police and reference report number 2023-66011.
