Mountain House man sentenced to 18 years in prison in San Ramon rape case

A 35-year-old man from Mountain House now faces a total of 26 years in prison for two sexual assaults in the Bay Area. A judge in Contra Costa recently sentenced him to an additional 18 years in prison for sexually assaulting a woman at a party in San Ramon three years ago.

Qais Faizi, who was sentenced to eight years in prison in January after being found guilty in a jury trial in a Santa Clara court of participating in a gang rape of a drunken woman in San Jose in 2017. Earlier this month, he received the maximum sentence for another rape of a drunken woman in San Ramon in 2021.

At the conclusion of the trial on July 11 in Contra Costa County Court, Faizi was found guilty of rape, rape of an unconscious person, rape of an intoxicated person and sexual penetration with a foreign object. He was given increased sentences on all counts. Then on August 2, Judge David Goldstein sentenced him to the maximum sentence of 18 years in prison.

Faizi filed an appeal on Tuesday. The deadline for the entire appeal process is 60 days from the verdict.
