Major League Baseball pitcher Hunter Greene vomits in his glove; second time in less than 2 months

Cincinnati Reds pitcher Hunter Greene showed remarkable resilience despite an unusual challenge in Tuesday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals. The 25-year-old appeared to struggle with nerves, which led to him vomiting into his glove in the fifth inning.

The moment, broadcast live, showed Greene stepping back from the pitcher's mound, briefly covering his face with his glove and vomiting into it. The broadcast quickly cut off, with an announcer responding with “Uh oh.”

This is the second time in less than two months that Greene has had a similar issue during a game. The latest incident quickly garnered attention on social media, with clips of it circulating widely.

Despite the layoff, Greene put in an impressive performance, pitching seven innings, allowing just one run on four hits and striking out eight Cardinals batters. His performance reduced his ERA on the season to 2.83.

Pitching analyst Rob Friedman shared the video online and jokingly noted, “Yeah, I'm not checking the glove for foreign matter. You're good, dude.”

Interestingly, a similar incident happened to Greene on June 25 during a game against the Pittsburgh Pirates, shortly after throwing a 95 mph fastball. According to Cardinals sportswriter John Denton, this is not the first time Greene has encountered such a problem this season.

Although it's unclear whether these episodes were due to nerves or something else, Reds manager David Bell was unconcerned after the game, which the Reds won 4-1. “I think a lot of us feel like throwing up sometimes during the game and it doesn't come out,” Bell joked during the post-game press conference. “Maybe he'll just feel better afterward.”
