'Rapist with bad breath' convicted in Quincy rape case

A man nicknamed the “Bad Breath Rapist” who was convicted of raping a woman in Quincy, Massachusetts, and was on the run for nearly 20 years will be sentenced Thursday. Tuen Kit Lee was arrested in Northern California in May. He had been living in the San Francisco area with his girlfriend for 15 years. The woman had no idea who Lee really was. Lee fled Massachusetts during his trial in 2007 and was convicted in absentia of rape and kidnapping. A reward of up to $10,000 was offered in 2023 for information leading to his capture. According to Massachusetts State Police, Lee's family owned Kagawa Restaurant in Quincy, where the victim worked. Lee broke into her home on Feb. 2, 2005, held the victim at knifepoint and tied her to the bed with zip ties before carrying out the sexual assault. She was found several hours later by her boyfriend. Lee's bad breath played a key role in the initial investigation and earned him the nickname “The Bad Breath Rapist.” Lee is scheduled to appear in Norfolk Superior Court for sentencing on Thursday afternoon.
