In the original Helldivers game, there were three enemy factions, the Cyborgs, who are now the Automatons, Terminids, and The Illuminate. So far, only the Automatons and Terminids have been part of the current Galactic War, but we know that The Illuminate will show up at some point. That day may be getting closer, as screenshots from the game recently surfaced online showing what the third faction will look like.

Helldivers 2 leaker IronS1ghts recently posted screenshots of the game's Sentinel enemy “Tripod” on Reddit, giving us a glimpse of what the Illuminati will look like when they eventually join the Galactic War. In the screenshots, we see the alien with three long legs on a body with a single eye.

According to the leak, the “Eye of the Sentinel fires a beam that has three different fire modes: horizontal, vertical, and irregular. You can disable the beam ability by destroying the Eye of the Sentinel, which will create an electric arc.” IronS1ghts also noted, “Her running animation is pretty weird in-game, very fluid.”

Recent leaks have also allowed us to see other enemies, including the Observer and an enemy named “Guy.” With these in-game leaks emerging, it seems like we could encounter The Illuminate sooner rather than later, as the character models and animations are included in the files. So far, Arrowhead Game Studios has not publicly admitted that The Illuminate will appear in Helldivers 2. They have been mentioned by officers on your ship, however, but this usually refers to the past Galactic War that took place 100 years before the events of this game.

While there are in-game leaks from The Illuminate, it will likely be a while before we see them, especially since Arrowhead Game Studios is currently working to fix many of the issues from the Escalation of Freedom update. After the changes received heavy criticism, the developers released a 60-day roadmap to roll back many of the changes made and come up with a plan to ensure future updates aren't received as negatively. Some of the main complaints have been around nerfs that have caused the meta to become jumbled, but not in a good way. This has led to some players taking it upon themselves to figure out what balancing changes should be made. With the nerfs causing some unrest, now is a good time to take a look at your current loadout. To help you with that, we highly recommend checking out our guide to the best weapons and the best armor for Helldivers 2.
