BREAKING NEWS: Second arrest in Lowell Badger murder case | WIBQ The Talk Station

SULLIVAN COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Indiana State Police announce another arrest has been made in the investigation into the murder of Lowell R. Badger.

The murder occurred sometime between Friday, December 7 and the morning of December 8, 2012 in Sullivan County.

On August 13, Judge Hugh Hunt of Sullivan Superior Court issued an arrest warrant for murder against 39-year-old Richard D. Taft. The Indiana Department of Corrections served the warrant on Taft, who is incarcerated at the Michigan City Correctional Facility.

The crime is classified as a Class A crime rather than a level because the crime occurred before Indiana switched to a numbered level system.

The Indiana State Police were assisted by the Sullivan County District Attorney's Office, Sullivan County Sheriff's Department, Vigo County District Attorney's Office, IPAC and the Indiana Department of Corrections.

Badger was an 85-year-old retired Sullivan County farmer who was found dead in his rural home on the morning of December 8, 2012.
