Suspect arrested after fatal shooting at Alabama apartment complex

An arrest has been made in connection with a shooting at a Tuscaloosa apartment complex last weekend that left one man dead and another injured. Just before midnight Friday, officers with the Tuscaloosa Police Department were called to the Creekwood Apartments on 40th Avenue for a shooting, according to the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office. Upon arrival, officers found a man with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound as well as the body of 23-year-old Emilio Herndon.>> WVTM 13 ON THE GO: Download our app for freeDuring the course of their investigation, the Violent Crimes Unit identified a suspect in the shooting: 30-year-old Darrion “Buck” Boyd. Boyd, who had been actively sought by law enforcement for the past week, was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Task Force on Thursday morning. He was charged with murder and attempted murder and booked into the Tuscaloosa County Jail without bail. Officials say the shooting stemmed from a “minor altercation.”

One man was arrested and another was injured in connection with a double shooting at a Tuscaloosa apartment complex last weekend.

Just before midnight Friday, Tuscaloosa Police officers were called to the Creekwood Apartments on 40th Avenue for a shooting, the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office reported.

When officers arrived, they found a man with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and the body of 23-year-old Emilio Herndon.

During the course of their investigation, the Violent Crimes Unit identified a suspect in the shooting: 30-year-old Darrion “Buck” Boyd.

Boyd, who was actively sought by law enforcement throughout last week, was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Task Force on Thursday morning. He was charged with murder and attempted murder and remanded to the Tuscaloosa County Jail without bail.

Deputies say the shooting was the result of a “minor altercation.”
