Garmin Fenix 8 leak shows the company’s next smartwatches

In brief

  • A set of official-looking renders of the Garmin Fenix 8, Fenix E and Enduro 3 have been leaked.
  • Garmin is expected to switch to an AMOLED panel for the Fenix 8.
  • Little is known about the Fenix E, but it is possible that it will be released in a cheaper version.

It's already been a busy summer for smartwatch fans, from the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra and Watch 7 last month to the debut of Google's Pixel Watch 3 this week. But as big as those individual announcements were, we still have a big industry show to go, with IFA 2024 kicking off in just a few weeks. Wearables from dozens of companies will be showcased there, and today we get a little preview, with the leak of some renders showing the Garmin Fenix 8, Fenix E, and Enduro 3.

Garmin is one of those smartwatch makers that likes to use MIP LCD panels on their watches, but one of our biggest wishes for the Fenix 8 was that it would switch to an AMOLED display. We share the renders you see above, WinFuture attempts to confirm this change for both the 47mm and 51mm variants. While the website says it won't disclose any further specs, it does give us a hint of pricing, citing €1,099 (~$1,205) for the smaller and €1,199 (~$1,315) for the larger size – but we wouldn't put much stock in those US equivalents.

Next we have the Garmin Fenix E, and this one we only hear about in a single size of 47mm. There was nothing like this in previous generations of Fenix watches, and WinFuture speculated that this could be a cheaper (lower spec) alternative to the premium Fenix range. That could mean sticking with an LCD rather than joining the move to AMOLED.

Finally, we take a look at what the Garmin Enduro 3 is supposed to be. The Enduro 2 is already one of Garmin's more expensive offerings, and it looks like this successor will stick with the same high-quality materials. There's no word here on concrete pricing or potential AMOLED action, so perhaps we'll wait until the launch is a little closer to get the full picture of this and the rest of Garmin's latest range. With IFA set to kick off on September 6, those answers could be just three weeks away.
