White Sox slash season ticket prices amid horrific season | The Mighty 790 KFGO

Chicago White Sox season ticket holders can expect a price reduction when they bill for 2025 – perhaps a consolation for having endured what may be the worst season in MLB history.

Brooks Boyer, the club's senior vice president and chief revenue and marketing officer, said ticket prices at Guaranteed Rate Field would drop an average of 10 percent across all seating levels.

“Considering what's happened here overall over the last few years, it's going to be a little bit different,” Boyer told reporters Wednesday evening. “There's a price reduction.”

The White Sox, who have a day off on Thursday, are 29-92. They are threatening to surpass the 1962 expansion New York Mets in losing record. Those Mets finished the season 40-120 and the White Sox are on pace to lose 124 games.

Chicago was a playoff team in 2020 and 2021. In 2022 they averaged .500 and in 2023, Pedro Grifols' first season as coach, they lost 101 games.

The White Sox released Grifol earlier this month and temporarily replaced him with manager Grady Sizemore.

Chicago has a promising farm system, but it will likely be several years before the White Sox consider signing big-name free agents to get back into the playoffs.

The invoices for the next season were sent out on Thursday, the first payment for season tickets is due on September 30th.

“We haven't had a season like this very often. And if you look at the last two years, it makes sense for us. If you look at the analytics, it makes absolute sense to lower prices,” said Boyer.

He continued:

“We know what ticket prices are like, whether it's season ticket prices or the secondary market, we know what's going on. After looking at that and understanding where we stand organizationally, we thought it was important that we do that for our season ticket holders who are very loyal to us.”
