Marshall County Jail closed for construction and renovation

WARREN, Minnesota (Valley News Live) – Effective immediately through approximately November 2025, the Marshall County Sheriff's Office will close its jail and relocate its operations center.

Due to construction and remodeling of the jail, Marshall County inmates are being held at the Pennington County Jail in Thief River Falls and the Operations Center is closed to the public. During this time, we are unable to fingerprint the public. The Operations Center is now located in Briefing Room 2 (the Commissioner's Office).

To apply for a firearm permit, go to Conference Room 2 in the basement of the courthouse. The medication drop box is also located outside of Conference Room 2.

There will also be some changes in other departments of the courthouse during construction. Court Administration will now be located on the first floor of the courthouse in the 4H office near the field office. Victim Services will now be in the field office. The State Self Help Center and phone computers, Court Administration public terminal, and the Marshall County Law Library are now located outside of Meeting Room 2. Court will now be held on the third floor in the old courtroom near Social Services. Commissioners will now meet in Meeting Room 1.

For the driving tests, the DMV is set up every first Tuesday of the month in the break room opposite meeting room 1.

When construction begins, the south parking lot will be closed. Parking is available in the north parking lot and on the street.
