Suspect arrested after fight with deputy

On Thursday afternoon, a fight broke out in Valencia between a deputy sheriff and a suspected theft suspect.

On Thursday around 2:30 p.m., officers received reports of a woman in her early 20s stealing items from a store near Magic Mountain and McBean Parkways in Valencia, said Deputy Robert Jensen, spokesman for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station.

An officer responding to the incident found the woman and a scuffle broke out between officers, Jensen said.

What led to the fight remained unclear as of Thursday afternoon.

No major injuries were reported to either the officer involved or the suspect.
