Colorado woman's stolen vehicle used in crime at e-cigarette store

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – A Colorado woman says her car was stolen and used in the Vapor Uprising car break-in near Filmore Avenue and I-25.

Tamara Smith says she was on her way to work on June 18 when she realized her car was missing. She checked with the apartment complex where she lives to see if her car had been towed. After a few hours, she contacted police.

“I didn't know what had happened, and then when I called the towing company and they said, 'No, we don't have it,' I got kind of nervous… That's when I decided to call the police because I thought, okay, someone stole my car,” Smith said.

According to Smith, when she called police, she was told they had found the car parked at Vapor Uprising, where it was used to ram into the vape shop and force entry. She says her car could have been two payments away from being fully paid off.

Smith explained: “I paid it off and when it just ended like that, it was like all my money was gone, like all my hard work was for nothing – I don't know, it was really, really bad.”

Tamara Smith says she hopes these crimes will end sooner rather than later.

“I just think more should be done. I don't know exactly what, but I definitely think they need a task force or a team during the hours they're smashing and robbing,” Smith said.
