Robert Telles' wife: Domestic violence incident explained

During a particularly brutal argument with his wife, Robert Telles allegedly screamed “Kill me!” at her and their frightened children.

When does a crime become a true crime? The answer to that question is ambiguous at best. Some believe it is when a story is made into a podcast or documentary, while others say any crime is a true crime. Sometimes you come across a story with so many twists and turns that you wonder what came first: the crime or the true crime. Such is the case with the murder of Jeff German.

According to reports, Robert Telles' wife once had to take her children and hide from her husband.

According to a police report on KTNV, the incident occurred on the evening of February 29, 2020, and lasted until the morning of March 1. The couple had gone to the Bellagio that evening, where Telles apparently drank a little too much. This led to an argument between Telles and his wife, Mary Ann Ramirez Ismael.

The situation escalated during the car ride home when Telles allegedly began choking Ismael. Apparently she was able to breathe and continue driving, although Telles began to push things around in the vehicle. He also punched Ismael in the arm, causing her to swerve. Luckily for her, they made it home safely; however, Telles allegedly continued his rampage inside the house.

Ismael begged Telles to just go to sleep, but he refused. Instead, he continued to scream at her. At one point, he reportedly shouted “Kill me!” at his terrified wife. This frightened Ismael, who allegedly took their two children and fled to a bedroom, where she locked them all in. Unfortunately, that reportedly didn't stop Telles from breaking down the door and continuing the chase. She then eventually called the police.

The charges against Robert Telles were dropped.

While waiting for the police, Telles reportedly managed to wrap his arms around Ismael, his grip so tight that one of his frightened children apparently tried to force its way between the parents. The arrival of the police did not help calm the situation, as Telles did not stop screaming. He told the officers that he had no idea what had happened and did not know why he was arguing with his wife.

When they suggested he go to another room, Telles “faced the police officer and began shouting at him,” the newspaper said. When police tried to handcuff Telles, he tensed his arms and wriggled out of the restraints. Perhaps that was the last straw, because at that point an exhausted Telles collapsed into a chair and begged police officers not to handcuff him in front of his children.

Telles spent the night in Las Vegas jail and was released on parole the next day. He later negotiated a dismissal of domestic violence charges, but was unable to avoid resisting prosecution charges. He received probation, which exempted him from a behavior modification course called Corrective Thinking. The resisting prosecution charges were later dropped after Telles paid $418 bail.
