“Major” gas leak on Espinosa Road, work planned overnight

North Monterey County firefighters are currently working with Pacific Gas and Electric on a gas leak between Castroville and North Salinas. A large gas leak has been reported on Espinosa between Highway 183 and Rodgers. The road is closed until further notice. The road has been closed to ensure the safety of everyone involved and the public. A spokesperson for North Monterey County Firefighters said a tractor blade punctured a pipe and caused the gas leak. North Monterey County firefighters are currently working with Pacific Gas and Electric on a gas leak between Castroville and North Salinas.

A large gas leak has been reported on Espinosa between Highway 183 and Rodgers. The road is closed until further notice.

To ensure the safety of everyone involved and the public, the road was closed.

A North Monterey County Fire Department spokesman said a tractor blade punctured a pipe, causing the gas leak.

The leak was first reported at around 12:52 p.m. Work is expected to continue throughout the night.
