Maryland incident ends in York County

An incident that began in Maryland ended in a York County neighborhood. A photo from a News 8 viewer showed vehicles from several law enforcement agencies lined up in the 1900 block of Jefferson Road in North Codorus Township Thursday afternoon. Officers were there for about 90 minutes. We called the Carroll County Sheriff's Office, which said officers were called to a residence in Hampstead, Carroll County, Maryland, after a 911 caller reported that a 7-year-old boy who lived at the home had been abducted from their front yard. The family member who called 911 was able to follow the vehicle the child got into and provided directions to dispatch until Carroll County officers conducted a traffic stop. The vehicle traveled into Pennsylvania and was stopped in the 1900 block of Jefferson Road in North Codorus Township, York County. The sheriff's office determined that this was a custody dispute between family members and the child had not been forcibly abducted or harmed. The person the child was with was his grandfather. No arrests have been made and the sheriff's office is still working on custody agreements before the case is closed. The 7-year-old has been released into the custody of his biological father. A photo from a News 8 viewer showed vehicles from multiple police agencies lined up in the 1900 block of Jefferson Road in North Codorus Township Thursday afternoon. Officers were there for about 90 minutes.

We called the Carroll County Sheriff's Office, who informed us that officers were called to a residence in Hampstead, Carroll County, Maryland, after a 911 caller reported that a 7-year-old boy living at the home had been abducted from the front yard.

The family member who called 911 was able to follow the vehicle the child entered and provide instructions to dispatch until Carroll County officials made a traffic stop.

The vehicle entered Pennsylvania and was stopped in the 1900 block of Jefferson Road in North Codorus Township, York County.

The sheriff's office concluded that this was a custody dispute between family members and that the child had not been forcibly abducted or harmed. The person the child was with was his grandfather.

No arrests have been made and the sheriff's office is still working on custody agreements before closing the case.

The seven-year-old was released into the care of his biological father.
