Young suspect allegedly stole weapons and credit cards from unlocked cars in apartment complexes on Beachwalk

St. John's County, Florida. – The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office released new information Thursday regarding a SWAT situation in the Beachwalk community on Aug. 1.

The sheriff's office said it was executing a search warrant in connection with a series of car break-ins at The Elysian and Sentosa Beachwalk apartment complexes.

Residents reported theft of jewelry, credit cards and firearms from their unlocked vehicles.

Lawmakers released a surveillance photo of a group of young people who they said were seen pulling on car door handles in July.

Investigators discovered that the stolen credit cards were used to purchase items that were delivered to various addresses, including the home address of a young suspect.

Deputies said they seized stolen weapons during the search.

The suspect now faces a long list of charges, including armed burglary, grand theft of a weapon, possession of personal identification information, petty theft, criminal damage, loitering and prowling, and resisting arrest without violence. And officials said the investigation is ongoing.

The Sheriff's Office is asking anyone who believes they may have been a victim of these thefts to call (904) 824-8304.
