Usher announces neck injury and postpones further concert dates

R&B star Usher is putting his health first ahead of his highly anticipated Past Present Future tour. He announced that he will postpone several performances due to a neck injury.

The 45-year-old star announced that he sustained the injury during rehearsals earlier this week and had to cancel the tour's premiere on Wednesday.

“Earlier this week I sustained a neck injury while rehearsing to give my fans the best USHER show ever,” he wrote in an Instagram post on Thursday. “My hope was that with physical therapy and medical treatment I could overcome the injury and be ready for the premiere. Unfortunately the injury has not healed yet and my doctors have told me I am not allowed to perform any shows this week.”

The singer said three postponed shows scheduled for August 14, 16 and 17 at State Farm Arena in Atlanta have already been rescheduled for December 9, 10 and 12 at that venue.

Despite the setback, Usher said his recovery is going according to plan and he plans to begin the tour on August 20 in Washington, DC, provided he gets adequate rest and treatment.

“I love my fans and thank them for their understanding that this injury must heal so that I can give them the 100 percent peak performance they expect from a USHER show,” he added.
