Chris Evans has sustained an injury that means the end of his season. By Jordan SchultzThe Bengals running back has suffered a torn patellar tendon that will force him to miss the 2024 season.

Schultz Notes that the running back has a nine-month recovery time and the Bengals expect the player to make a full recovery. Evans sustained the injury during today's practice. ESPN's Courtney Cronin and Ben Baby reported that the running back was injured while covering a kickoff. Evans' leg was placed in an aircast before he was carried off the practice field.

The 2021 sixth-round pick has spent his entire career in Cincinnati. Evans played a consistent role on special teams during his time in Cincinnati, collecting seven tackles and returning 14 kickoffs for a 22.4-yard average. He has only accumulated 137 offensive snaps in his 34 career games, but he showed flashes as a rookie, catching 15 of his 17 passes and averaging 4.5 yards on his 17 carries.

2023 marked a low point for the player as he was firmly behind Joe Mixon, Trayveon WilliamsAnd Follow Braun. He reportedly recovered this summer, and both Schultz and Baby noted that Evans had a very strong training camp. The Bengals added Zack Moss this offseason to replace Mixon at the top of the order, but it sounds like Evans had the opportunity to overtake some of his teammates for a key backup role.
