Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars are a retro crooning couple in the video for the new duet “Die With a Smile”

Two of the greatest voices in pop have come together for a great ballad: “Die With a Smile” by Bruno Mars And Lady GagaIn a statement, Lady Gaga says she and Bruno were talking about collaborating when they came across the perfect song.

“I was finishing up my own album in Malibu, and one night after a long day, he asked me to come to his studio to listen to something he was working on,” she explains. “It was about midnight when I got there, and I was blown away when I heard what he had started doing.”

“We stayed up all night finishing writing and recording the song,” she adds. “Bruno's talent is indescribable. His musicianship and vision are on a whole new level. There is no one like him.”

“It was an honor to work with Gaga,” says Bruno. “She is an icon and brings magic to this song. I'm excited for everyone to hear it.”

In the video, Bruno and Gaga appear in matching retro suits in an old-fashioned television studio: Gaga sits at the piano with a beehive hairstyle and a cigarette in the corner of her mouth, while Bruno stands with a cowboy hat on his head and plays the guitar.

In the passionate ballad, the two sing: “If the world were to end, I'd want to be next to you/ When the party was over and our time on earth was up/ I'd just wanna hold you for a while/ And die with a smile/ If the world were to end, I'd want to be next to you.”

The single is described as a “standalone collaboration” that the two stars are releasing “as a treat for their fans.” Rumor has it that the song will be featured in Gaga's upcoming film. joker: Slide for Twobut this is not confirmed.
