You get 650 hours of classic role-playing in Humble's latest bundle, including the original Baldur's Gate, Pathfinder and Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader

Good news! I found something for you to do this September. Well, anything. The whole month. What's the point? You already had plans? That's too bad. You'll just have to drop them. After all, you have over 650 hours of RPG ahead of you.

Well, that's what you'll be able to do if you pick up the ongoing Beamdog and Owlcat: RPG Masters Bundle from Humble. For $35 (£27) you get eight meaty RPGs and a ton of DLC in one package that includes:

Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader
Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous (plus season passes)
Pathfinder: Kingmaker Enhanced Plus Edition (plus season pass)
Neverwinter Nights Enhanced Edition: Complete Adventures
Baldur's Gate 2 Enhanced Edition
Baldur's Gate 1 Extended Edition
Planescape: Torment Enhanced Edition
Icewind Dale: Expanded Edition

For $15 (£11.60) you get all that without Rogue Trader, which might be the right move. The game has its supporters, but our own Jody Macgregor gave it a 59% rating in his Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader review, criticising its bugginess and chaotic rules. However, it has since received a few patches and currently sits at a 'mostly positive' rating of 77% on Steam, so it's up to you whether you give it a chance.

According to How Long To Beat, a playthrough of these games with “main story + extras” – not including DLC - takes about 650 hours, or 27 days. And what 27 days that would be, folks. Three of these games – Baldur's Gate 1 and 2, and Planescape – are bona fide all-time classics, and if you're one of the many, many people who recently got into the series via BG3, you owe it to yourself to go back and experience the original games.

They are different, yes, and oldbut they're still some of my favorite games ever: a single, epic RPG story spanning two games (and two expansions) in which you go from a puny level 1 dwarf fleeing hordes of gibberlings to a titan striding through the world battling gods and devils.

Planescape, meanwhile, is Disco Elysium before Disco Elysium: a deeply strange journey into the depths of the self where you play a man with no memory, doomed to a life as the undead. It's a game often copied but rarely surpassed, and it still tells one of the medium's best stories 25 years after its release.

The rest aren't pantheon-level classics, but they all have their loyal fans. Ted Litchfield at PCG might report me to HR if I didn't mention how important Neverwinter Nights is to his own RPG-loving life path, while I have yet to get around to playing Wrath of the Righteous, as I've been promising him for years now.
