What is ketamine? What you should know about the drug that killed Matthew Perry

Months after his death, an investigation into the ketamine death of actor Matthew Perry resulted in five arrests.

The 54-year-old actor, famous for his role as Chandler Bing in “Friends,” was found floating face down in his pool last October. His cause of death was “acute effects of ketamine” and subsequent drowning, according to the autopsy report.

The five people charged in connection with Perry's death include two doctors, a drug dealer, his live-in personal assistant and an alleged drug dealer who is believed to have sold him the batch of ketamine that killed him.

Perry was reportedly “receiving ketamine infusion therapy for depression and anxiety.” According to Perry's autopsy report, his death was ruled an accident, with the cause of death being “the acute effects of ketamine.” Contributing factors were considered to be drowning, coronary artery disease, and the effects of buprenorphine.
