Former pilot sentenced to 12 years in prison for traveling to the Philippines to have sex with minors

A former cargo pilot who frequently traveled abroad has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for flying to the Philippines and paying for sex with minors, U.S. Attorney Philip Sellinger announced.

An investigation revealed that 68-year-old Frank Maile of Hamilton filmed the acts and passed the child pornography on to his then-roommate/tenant Dennis Nerolich, Sellinger said.

Maile, formerly of New Egypt, had done so from 2013 to 2018. In September 2023, he pleaded guilty in federal court in Newark to count 4 of a five-count indictment. According to Sellinger, he is accused of illicit sexual conduct abroad, that is, sexual conduct with a person under the age of 18, commercial sexual conduct and the production of child pornography.

In addition to his prison sentence, Maile was sentenced to lifetime probation, registration as a sex offender, payment of $5,000 under the Justice for Victims of Trafficking Act, and a $50,000 fine.
