Hundreds of villagers gathered in front of the gate of the fertilizer company and staged a protest. SDM Prashant Verma and Chauri Chaura Police Officer Ashish Kumar Singh immediately rushed to the spot and directed the fertilizer company officials to proceed there.

Officials noticed acid leaking from the tanker. They immediately began transferring the acid from the damaged tanker to a new one and brought the situation under control.

SO Singh said that inhalation of the acidic air during transport had led to complaints like nausea, burning in the eyes and irritation in the throat. He claimed that the situation was normal.

However, the worried villagers spent a sleepless night. On Friday morning, they came to the community health centre to have their eyes checked, complaining of difficulty breathing.
