Kansas City man sentenced to life in prison for murder at Overland Park gas station

OLATHE, Kansas (KCTV) – A Johnson County judge sentenced a Kansas City, Missouri resident to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Zarrell Semaj Finley, 26, was convicted of first-degree murder in a 2022 gas station shooting.

On July 31, 2022, Overland Park police say they were called to the BP gas station at 8698 College Blvd. where shots were reportedly fired. When they arrived, they found Shaquille J. Jackson, the victim, seriously injured. He was taken to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead by doctors.

Witnesses told police that the suspect, later identified as Finley, sped from the scene in a Toyota Highlander before police arrived. Finley was found, arrested and charged with first-degree murder and illegal possession of a firearm.
