Suspect arrested in connection with fatal shooting of Salinas man

A suspect has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of Saul Guadalupe Santos in Salinas. The 58-year-old man was shot multiple times on North Main Street Sunday morning in what police believe was a carjacking incident. He later died at the hospital. A police department news release Friday said 23-year-old Ismael Zendejas Lopez was identified as the suspect and arrested Thursday. “Salinas Police Department detectives, patrol officers and members of the U.S. Marshals Service Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Taskforce located Zendejas Lopez in the area of ​​Front St. and W. Alisal St. and arrested him without incident,” the news release said. Zendejas Lopez was booked into the Monterey County Jail. Police say there are no other suspects.
