17-year-old charged in Silver Spring shooting

According to police, a 17-year-old boy is accused of a shooting in downtown Silver Spring in February.

On February 2, a man and his son were loading items from one car to another on Hartford Avenue when four suspects got out of a Honda Civic and approached them, according to the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD).

Police said the armed suspects attempted to steal the man's car, which led to a physical altercation and the man was shot in the head and stomach. The suspects then left the scene in the Honda.

The victim was treated and released from the hospital. Investigators identified a 17-year-old as one of the suspects involved.

According to police, investigators obtained an arrest warrant against him, accusing him of attempted premeditated murder, aggravated assault, armed robbery and the use of a firearm in the commission of a serious crime.

Last Friday, the suspect was taken to Montgomery County and served with the arrest warrant. He was being held in Prince George's County on other charges, according to police.

According to the MCPD, he is being held without bail.
