The Rabbitohs star will also reportedly face the South Sydney board and speak to representatives of the club's powerful owners – Russell Crowe, James Packer and Mike Cannon-Brookes.

The NRL released a statement on Thursday afternoon.

“The National Rugby League (NRL) today issued a notice to South Sydney Rabbitohs player Latrell Mitchell for a breach of the NRL Code of Conduct following an investigation by the NRL Integrity Unit,” it said.

“The details of the notice of infringement state that Mitchell appears in images made public on August 12, 2024, which depict him engaging in conduct that has damaged the reputation of the game.

“Mitchell has 5 business days to respond to the notice of violation.”

The new collective agreement does not provide for any sanctions in the event of a breach notification by the NRL.

Phil Rothfield, who broke the story for The Daily Telegraph, revealed further details about Fox League's NRL 360 this week.

“Latrell was in Dubbo last weekend, good for him, he attended a coaching seminar. And from what I understand… this picture was taken after that seminar,” Rothfield said.

The photo is said to have been taken in a hotel room.

“The South Sydney Rabbitohs have been made aware of a photo of Latrell Mitchell circulating on social media following a personal appearance in Dubbo over the weekend,” the club said in a statement.

“The club has informed the NRL Integrity Unit of the photograph. The Rabbitohs will have no further comment at this time.”

Mitchell has not played since early July after suffering a Lisfranc foot injury that cost him a place in the State of Origin decider.
