PSP releases statement on death of Autry Stephens

The Permian Strategic Partnership released the following statement on Friday regarding the death of Autry Stephens:

Autry Stephens was a humble and visionary leader in the oil and gas industry and a titan of the Permian Basin community. His extraordinary path to becoming one of the industry's most transformative figures is a testament to his hopeful, optimistic and entrepreneurial spirit.

“Autry was one of my first mentors when I arrived in Midland in 1975, and I am grateful to call him a friend for the past 50 years,” said Donald L. Evans, chairman of the Permian Strategic Partnership. “Autry's life was marked by a deep love for his family, great pride and affection for his employees, and an unwavering belief in the promise of the Permian Basin. He was a tireless pioneer and a sweet, caring soul with a heart of gold.”

Stephens will always be remembered as one of the leaders of the shale gas revolution that took the United States from energy scarcity to energy abundance and transformed the Permian Basin into one of the world's largest secure energy suppliers, strengthening America's energy, economic and national security.

The Permian Strategic Partnership honors the life and legacy of Autry Stephens and extends our sincere condolences to the Stephens family as they remember the remarkable life of an iconic man and the impact he had on the Permian Basin, Texas and America.
