Clarksville motorcyclist killed in accident on Clarksville Pike

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – A Clarksville motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a pickup truck on Clarksville Pike Friday afternoon, Metro Nashville Police said.

Police said the 29-year-old man, whose identity has not been released pending notification of his next of kin, collided with 76-year-old Larry James' Isuzu pickup truck at 1:30 p.m.

According to police, James was driving west on Clarksville Pike and turned left into his driveway when the motorcyclist, who was traveling east, struck the pickup truck. The stretch of road has a slight incline, according to police, and the motorcyclist was just at the crest of the hill before the impact.

A witness told police that James turned very slowly.

According to police, there was no evidence of impairment at the crime scene.

According to police, the preliminary cause of the accident appears to be that James failed to yield the right of way. Investigators will try to determine the motorcyclist's speed before discussing the accident with the public prosecutor's office.
