Two people arrested after traffic stop in Calloway County

CALLOWAY COUNTY, Ky. (KFVS) – Two women are in custody following a traffic stop in Calloway County, Kentucky.

According to the Calloway County Sheriff's Office, officers conducted a traffic stop on Highway 641N on August 15 at around 1:30 p.m.

Calloway County Drug Enforcement Detectives responded and, with the assistance of Marshall County Sheriff's Office sniffer dog “Drax,” determined that the passenger of the vehicle, 45-year-old Amanda R. Cope of Marshall County, was in possession of illegal drugs, some of which were indicative of drug trafficking.

According to the sheriff's office, Cope is currently on probation and pleaded guilty to trafficking methamphetamine (second offense) in 2019.

The driver of the vehicle, 50-year-old Lora L. Carroll of Marshall County, no longer had a driver's license and is therefore not allowed to operate a motor vehicle on the road.

Both were arrested and taken to the Calloway County Detention Center where they were housed.

Cope was charged with trafficking methamphetamine (second offense), possession of fentanyl, possession of Suboxone and possession of drug paraphernalia. Carroll was charged with operating a vehicle with a suspended or revoked license.
