1 dead after two-vehicle crash in Canton: OSHP

CANTON TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WOIO) – The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle crash Saturday evening that left a motorcyclist dead.

According to a press release, 47-year-old Brak V. Hayhurst was driving a black 2009 Yamaha motorcycle southbound on Deuber Avenue and 21-year-old Nicole A. Christman was driving a white 2006 Subaru westbound on Faircrest Street.

According to the OSHP's initial investigation, the Yamaha collided with the Subaru at the intersection in Canton Township at around 11:15 p.m.

According to the press release, Hayhurst was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident and Christman was uninjured.

Canton Township Fire and EMS, Stark County Coroner's Office and Rupple's Towing arrived at the scene.

Although the accident is still under investigation, an OSHP press release said alcohol and drugs are not believed to have played a role in the accident.

OSHP also reported that Christman was wearing a seatbelt and Hayhurst was not wearing a helmet.
