Jennifer Wilson, coach of the Lake Forest women's hockey team, announced Thursday that she will resign from her position to accept a job as an NCAA Division I assistant coach at an undisclosed school.

Wilson coached the Foresters for six seasons, compiling an overall record of 77-57-10 and an NCHA record of 56-25-7. Lake Forest qualified for the NCHA Slaats Cup playoffs every season and reached the semifinals of the league's postseason tournament five times.

“We greatly appreciate everything Coach Wilson has done for the Forester women's hockey team, as well as our department and campus community since joining the college,” LFC Athletic Director Nicki Pieart said in a statement. “We continue to wish her the best in the next phase of her coaching career.”

“While I am excited and honored to take the next step in my career, it is not without mixed emotions to leave Forester hockey,” Wilson added. “The last six years have had a strong and positive impact on my development as a coach and I would like to thank Jackie Slaats, Blake Theisen and Nicki Pieart for their support and guidance while giving me the opportunity to impact the college, its student-athletes and the program. I have had the privilege of working with phenomenal student-athletes over the years and will cherish those connections. I would like to sincerely thank the Forester staff, both past and present, for making Lake Forest the wonderful place it is.”

Wilson’s last day at LFC will be August 30th.

The nationwide search for the next head coach of the Lake Forest women's hockey team will begin immediately.
