Several teams from the Clarksville area get a first taste of the football season at a jamboree in Fort Campbell

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Fort Campbell Falcons hosted a Week 0 jamboree for six football teams from Clarksville and Hopkinsville on Friday. After four games of explosive plays, big hits and exciting action at Fryar Stadium, there is only one thing to say: Football is back.

Fort Campbell's last-minute heroics against Kenwood

The Kenwood Knights and Fort Campbell Falcons were first to face off of the night at Fryar Stadium. Kenwood took an early 14-0 lead after two consecutive interceptions on consecutive pass attempts, including a pick six. However, Fort Campbell's defense stepped up and led by new quarterback Jacarray Perlman, who rushed for four runs and 79 yards, the Falcons mounted a comeback. A 55-yard touchdown pass down the right sideline to Eric Greene ended the comeback and the Falcons held on to win 14-13.

Northeast outlasts Christian Co. in a penalty-filled affair

The Northeast Eagles and Christian County Colonels met for the second game. Northeast set the tone, scoring a touchdown on its first drive, capped by running back Montrell Perry. Christian County responded with a rushing touchdown, and although both offenses were heavily penalized, a shootout ensued. Northeast lost the ball, then Christian County threw an interception and immediately got the ball back. Phoenix Love found his tight end for a 20-yard touchdown pass late in the second quarter, sealing the win, and the Eagles emerged victorious, 14-6.

West Creek defeats Fort Campbell by ground game

The West Creek Coyotes were the Falcons' second opponents of the evening. The Coyotes' defense was in top form from the start, allowing the Falcons only 80 yards. Running back DJ McCoy dominated the offense, rushing for 110 yards in just 10 attempts. Although Fort Campbell's defense could barely score, quarterback Deshawn Swanson scored the only point of the evening with a rushing touchdown, giving West Creek a 6-0 victory.

Northwest dominates Christian County

In the after-dark game of the Jamboree, the Northwest Vikings took on the Christian County Colonels. Quarterback Braelen Ellis threw a long touchdown pass to Anthony Holland right at the start and the Vikings were on a roll. Northwest's defense also deserves a little shine, as they recorded five sacks on the night and Holland also had an interception. The Vikings capped off their energetic performance at the Jamboree with another rushing touchdown and made a clear statement with a 14-0 victory.
