A 15-year-old Wenatchee boy is in custody after two young girls were injured in a shooting at the Grant County Fairgrounds Friday night, according to the Grant County Sheriff's Office.

The incident occurred at around 10:05 p.m. on the fairgrounds.

The suspect, who was attending the carnival with one of the victims, allegedly opened fire, hitting a 15-year-old girl in the back and a 12-year-old passerby in the leg.

The condition of the victims is currently unknown; both were taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital.

Visitors to the fair immediately detained the boy until the police arrived.

The connection between the suspect and the second victim is currently unclear.

The authorities confirmed that there was no ongoing danger to the population.

The Grant County Sheriff's Office is coordinating with fair and rodeo personnel. While the fairgrounds were evacuated, the rodeo continued until the events concluded and attendees were able to leave if they so desired.

The campsite at the exhibition center was not evacuated.

The sheriff's office said more information will be provided as the investigation progresses.
